Bloorview is a Second Home to Miles, and Many Other Kids Like Him.

Hi Friend!

This is our fourth year fundraising for Bloorview, and also the last year while Miles is in Bloorview School.

When Miles was born 6 years ago (time really flies!), he was diagnosed with Arthrogryposis - a genetic condition that causes contractures in his limbs, limiting his joints and mobility. Our hearts were crushed and felt so lost about his future, whether it be his academic, medical and therapy needs. Fast forward 2 years, when Miles started seeing doctors, physio and occupational therapists at Bloorview. These consummate professionals guided us through Miles' first years of development, helping him develop essential skills, and core strength. And then fast forward another year, Miles was accepted into Bloorview School, where he was first exposed to structured learning in thoughtful, adaptive ways. There he developed a love of reading, his first friendships with teachers and students alike, all the while still getting all the therapy and care he needs. Simply put, the Bloorview Hospital and School was a Godsend to us, and I believe to countless families like ours. All the emotions we previously had, feeling confused and uncertain were alleviated once Miles started going to Bloorview. We finally felt a semblance of calm and assurance, knowing that he was in the best hands possible. This system that was created for children and families with special needs was like heaven to us, a dream come true. We are eternally grateful.

While we are so sad that our time at Bloorview School is up (it only goes up to Grade 1), we will continue to benefit from the services of Bloorview Hospital until Miles becomes an adult. We have first hand of experience of how wonderful this hospital is, and therefore we’re fundraising, so this institution can continue to help kids and youth with disabilities and complex medical needs access care that focuses on their physical, mental, and emotional well-being.

We humbly ask you to consider donating to this wonderful organization! We’ll wear our cape during Capes for Kids week (March 3-10, 2023) as a sign of support.

Together, we will:

Help kids with disabilities move, explore, play and heal through therapy, programs and services.

Support transformative research that enhances care, develops assistive technologies and evaluates barriers that restrict the inclusion of children with disabilities.

Create an accessible, inclusive, equitable and stigma-free world for kids and youth with disabilities.

Thank you in advance for your generosity and kindness. Please know by joining forces with us you are affecting change and making the world a better and easier place for kids like Miles.

Much Love,

Genuine, Leanne, Miles & Caspian

We help kids with disabilities smile, laugh, learn and heal!
